Smoke, so thick,
So yellow,
so dark,
creeps in,
bringing death
a strong hand
squeezing the last drips of life from the earth
choking each breath before heat.
Before flame.
Then flame.
Angry.
Voraciously hungry
eating the landscape.
No life remains,
a moonscape on this mountainside.
Yet, what thought
do our selfish hearts give
for the animals
forced from their homes?
