The art of selecting fruit
perfectly ripe
evades me.
I could stand in the store
all day
squeezing
each individual piece
before placing it in my plastic bag
and never know
if the fruit I have chosen is the ripest fruit.
Perhaps it was a technique
that was taught
in home economics class
on a day I skipped.
There is nothing quite like fresh fruit,
perfectly ripe,
peeled,
sliced,
delectably sweet juices
hitting your tongue.
With a hot cup of coffee,
cream,
no sugar.
The perfect way to start a morning.
